The NSW Ombudsman attended the National Indigenous Healthcare Forum & Rural and Remote Healthcare Conference in Sydney earlier this month, joining healthcare leaders and professionals from across Australia to discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping the sector.

The conference provided an opportunity for our staff to connect with people working across the health sector and hear directly about the issues affecting the delivery of services in regional and remote communities.
Across multiple days, conversations explored a range of issues including workforce attraction and retention, service accessibility, digital health, funding and culturally safe care. The importance of working across primary, community and acute settings to better meet people's needs was also a key focus.
Our participation is part of our ongoing engagement with communities and service providers. These conversations help us better understand people's experiences of public services and the challenges they can face when accessing support.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to speak with our team and share their experiences and perspectives.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and pay our respects to all Elders past and present, and to the children of today who are the Elders of the future.
